Okay, now here is a country that has it all in one place. As a result of its rich past, Spain is a melting pot of cultures. Its diverse landscape of sun-baked beaches, peaking mountains, and luxuriant vineyards offers an array of scenic experiences. From authentic flamenco performances, world-renowned artistic and literary influences, lively plazas, and of course their passion for football, you will find that the Spanish culture is untamed.
Explore the halls of the Alhambra Fortress. Cool yourself off on the beaches of Costa Brava. Take a hike in the Pyrenees mountains (or take full advantage of the winter by skiing your way down). Attend the San Fermin Festival, running alongside (or away from!) bulls through the streets of Pamplona. Whether you are taking flamenco classes in Barcelona, or visiting tapas bars in Madrid, Spain has the best remedy for soothing your wanderlust.
I bet your bags are already packed ...
I’m going to keep this description short because I know you already made your mind up upon reading the title of the internship. Besides the fact that the internship is in Spain where you will be travelling in one of the most beautiful and vibrant countries in the world, just remember you will also be there to teach English! By this, I mean you will be shaped from being a recently graduated TEFL student to becoming a real teacher, building your experience within each class.
Within this program, you will be assigned to assist the main classroom teacher in conducting English classes. Your job is to improve the student's English proficiency in listening, reading, speaking, and writing through group conversations. Among other things, you will be assisting the students in preparing for tests as well as hosting conversational activities. You are required to provide 24 hours of in-class teaching a week.
There are two lodging options. If you are more independent and self-reliant, you can choose to live by yourself (or with a roommate). The program does provide tips and suggestions for house-hunting; however, you are responsible for finding your own place. The second option would be to live with a host family. This option offers the experience of living like a local with an authentic Spanish familia.
Monthly salary is dependent on the number of working hours you deliver, the number of students in your conversation groups, as well as the accommodation option you choose: Independent accommodation salary ranges from €906 - €1,194; host family salary ranges from €409 - €724.
