Teach English in Uzbekistan: Free Flat and Save $900+ a Month

Tashkent, Samarkand & Nationwide, Uzbekistan USD 1,500–3,500/month Posted 17 Jun 2026

About This Role

Picture this: you're teaching English in an ancient Silk Road city, you pay zero rent, and at the end of every month you've banked money instead of burning it. That's the offer here. The Ministry of Education in Uzbekistan runs this government programme directly, and there are already 1,500+ international teachers in the system, with most of them renewing. You're paired with a local co-teacher, handed a ready-to-go Cambridge-aligned curriculum, and teach roughly 20 hours a week, leaving your afternoons and weekends free for Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva. The Ministry helps with the accommodation and the paperwork, so a lot of the hard work is taken off your plate. One honest note: the intake runs once a year and you need to be in-country by 1 September, and document apostilles take two to three months, so the people who start their application now have the best chance of going.

Benefits & Perks

USD 1,500–3,500/month, in a country where dinner costs about $4
A free, furnished, private apartment, not a shared room, usually 10–15 minutes from school, with $0 rent
Help with your A-2 visa from the Ministry, so you're not left navigating the embassy alone
A local co-teacher in every class for translation and classroom support, so you're never thrown in alone
Cambridge-aligned curriculum and core materials provided, so you can walk in and teach without building lessons from scratch
One economy return flight home every year, reimbursed up to USD 1,200
Medical insurance for the full length of your contract
Afternoons and weekends free, with roughly 20 teaching hours a week and Silk Road cities on your doorstep
Most teachers bank USD 900–2,700+ every month, thanks to free rent plus a genuinely low cost of living
A renewable one-year government contract (September–May), giving you stability rather than a gamble on a private academy
